Gorgeous - Not Gaudy.
The first time I ordered this bead, it was by mistake, and I was appalled when the bead arrived. It looked so gaudy, with the spots and such. Still, I needed a necklace on short notice and decided to use these beads. The finished necklace still looked a little gaudy to me (I couldn't get past those spots), but the recipient loved the necklace.
When I saw it on her, I knew why. The spots that had so disturbed me while I was close up, making the necklace, looked incredible and added to the sparkle when the necklace was on the wearer. The necklace looked as if it was dancing across the neck of the wearer, and she has received more compliments on that one necklace than she has on any of the others I have made. (These are all on my daughter, who has many necklaces from me)
If you're nervous about this stone, I'd say go for it. Once you aren't on top of it, the stone is beautiful. It's only when close up that you see the spots. When the item is being worn, it looks lovely. Thanks, INM.
